Different workspace setups

The way you set up your work environment and meeting rooms determines how efficiently you work during the day. However, there is no fixed rule for this because preferences are very personal. That’s why Discorp offers a range of different setups so that employees can choose how and where to work.

It’s not only the way you arrange your office and work desks. Bear in mind the meeting rooms, too. In almost every office building, you find one or several. The set-up of such a room defines the vibe of the meeting and the way people can meet. If the meeting audience is rather small, you better choose a small meeting room. For meetings with more participants, a large meeting room is recommended. Sounds logic. But also for virtual meetings, a comfortable meeting room exists. At Discorp, we have 8 meeting rooms, each with its own size and layout.

Herunder, we discuss a few office set-ups and a several different meeting room organizations.

The office setup

The way we work has changed over the last few years. Offices are not the same as a decade ago, and we couldn’t imagine back then that we would work most of the time from home. That’s why you should rethink your office setups, at the office as well as at home.

Office @ home

Office @ home

It is no surprise that working from home became the new tendency. When you work from home several days a week, it is very important that you’re not working at the dinner table or in the living room. A well-equipped workspace at home is at least as important as a good workplace at the office. A laptop stand, an external keyboard and mouse, and a second monitor are the minimum for a good home office environment. An ergonomic desk and chair are a big plus, too.

Flex desks

Flex desks

At Discorp, we apply a flex desk principal. Every day, our employees choose where they want to sit for the day. This way, you can sit next to someone else every time, and you’re not stuck to one specific office and neighbor. Besides, when you face a busy day, you can choose for a desk in a somewhat calm space.

Silent work pod

Silent work pod

In open workspaces or co-working spaces, a silent work pod is no unnecessary luxury. Imagine you have call after call, and you don’t want to be disturbed. A silent pod is private and sound-friendly so that you can isolate yourself to call, work and meet in peace.

The meeting room setup

All participants should gain equal footing, as some join meetings in the office and others remotely. Therefore, consider the right meeting set-up.

Small meeting rooms - Huddle rooms

Small meeting rooms - Huddle rooms

A huddle room is a perfect solution for hybrid working. Such small meeting rooms can host no more than 4 people and are ideal when some might be working from the office, and others from home.

There are some important criteria you should consider when you want to create a huddle room at the office:

  • Keep it simple. Give your employees the option to bring their own devices or to start a call with one simple touch.
  • A huddle room can be used for different purposes. Make sure you select the right equipment in order to meet the needs for every kind of meeting: from conferencing to just communication.
  • Make sure the video and audio are adapted to the size of this huddle room.

U-shaped desk

U-shaped desk

A specific form of small meeting rooms is the u-shaped table. As you can guess, this setting has the shape of the letter U. it’s the best way to ensure that everyone can see and hear each other well.

Tip: add a table with two or three chairs for the participants who join the meeting later. That way, the meeting will not be disrupted.

Medium meeting rooms

Medium meeting rooms

A medium meeting room will have room for about 6 to 8 people. This mid-sized conference room has the perfect size when more people in the office will join. It’s smart to be flexible in the setup and configurations because a wide range of people will use it. Make sure the room can accommodate smaller groups, but larger ones, too.

Besides, make your meeting room easy to use. This type of room is commonly used, so make sure users can join their meeting with just one click.

Large meeting rooms - Board rooms

Large meeting rooms - Board rooms

A large meeting room can host more than 10 people. It is very useful when the meeting needs to be attended by employees across departments and levels. Bear in mind the following requirements to arrange an efficient meeting room:

  • Everyone in the meeting should feel included? That’s why video and audio are very important in a board room. Even when participants are miles apart, it must seem like they are in the same room.
  • Make sure everyone is heard and seen well, even people in the back. Multiple speakerphones can be a great addition to your large meeting room. Besides, make sure that the camera is able to capture and focus on people both near and far. Automatic zooming on the speaker can be one of the features of your camera.
  • Make sure everyone can see what’s happening. Therefore, install multiple screens across the room.
